Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed he is glad that he is now in a position where he doesn't have to take on an acting job just for the money.
The Oscar nominated actor is back on the big screen this week with his new movie Source Code, which sees him team up with filmmaker Duncan Jones.
The actor admits that when he was first kicking off his career he took all sorts of roles but now feels lucky that he can be more choosy.
Speaking to Bang Showbiz he said: "When I was first working, I would just take whatever I was cast for. But now, it's like I have to have 'that feeling'.
"I've done movies where I didn't have the right feeling and I knew the audience didn't either.
"I respect the audience so much and I think it comes from growing up with storytellers.
"I watch movies a lot, I get feelings from movies, I love watching trailers, I love hearing directors, actors and everybody whose job has to do with movies."
Source Code is the first movie for Gyllenhaal since he reunited with Anne Hathaway for Love and Other Drugs at the end of last year.
Source Code is out now.
