Inception

Inception has enjoyed a month at the top of the Australian box office.

The Christopher Nolan movie, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, narrowly held off the challenge from Sylvester Stallone's latest movie The Expendables to keep the top spot for a fourth week.

The Expendables took $3.14 million at the box office over the weekend but had to settle for the number two spot. The movie follows a team of mercenaries head to South America on a mission to overthrow a dictator.

Step Up 3D moved down a single place from two to three while Scott Pilgrim vs The World was the only other new entry inside the top ten this week.

The movie is a return to the director's chair for Edgar Wright as he joins forces with Michael Cera to bring Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic book series to life.

Killers dropped two place from three to five while The Ghost Writer, which stars Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan moved up three places from nine to number six.

This week's biggest faller came in the form of Knight and Day which dropped four places to end the week at number eight. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Karate Kid dropped three places a piece to round off the top ten at nine and ten.
