Helen Hunt admits that she is stunned that her new movie The Sessions has been received so well.
The actress will be back on the big screen in the new year as she teams up with John Hawkes to tell the real story of Mark O'Brien - a man with an iron lung who wants to lose his virginity.
The movie has been a hit with the critics and both Hunt and Hawkes have been recognised by the Golden Globes by picking up a nomination each for their performances.
Speaking to USA Today the actress said: "It's such a tiny movie about a guy in an iron lung losing his virginity," she said, adding: "It's not like that tried-and-true old thing."
"We thought it might work, it might not work. We knew we cared about it. Beyond that, I don't think there was any way to imagine it would have gotten this kind of attention."
The Sessions is the first movie role for Hunt since Soul Surfer and sees her team up with director Ben Lewin - who also penned the screenplay
The Sessions is released 18th January 2013
