Hayden Panettiere is looking to take on roles that she can 'really sink her teeth into'.
I'm getting to the age where I don't want to play high school anymore.
The actress is currently enjoying box office success as part of the Scream 4 cast but she now wants leave high school parts behind.
In an interview with Las Vegas magazine the actress said: "I'm getting to the age where I don't want to play high school anymore.
"I feel like I'm finally getting to that place where I can play those in-their-early-20s roles, which are the ones you can really sink your teeth into.
"I still have to get over that hump of being seen as the cheerleader - and as very, very, young."
Panettiere's last project 2011 Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy, a TV movie in which she played Amanda Knox, was surrounded in controversy.
The actress has already lent her voice to the character of Red Riding Hood in Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil and completed work on Carmel.
Carmel is directed by Lawrence Roeck and sees Panettiere team up with Josh Hutcherson and Alfred Molina.
