As Potter-mania sweeps through the nation to celebrate the last ever Harry Potter film, education charity FILMCLUB has caught up with the stars of the latest - and final installment of the hit series - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two at the World Premiere in London’s Trafalgar Square.
FILMCLUB sent junior reporter Louise to the magical occasion where the youngster chatted all things Potter with the film’s stars Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) and BAFTA-award winning actress Imelda Staunton (Delores Umbridge).
Rupert Grint admitted to FILMCLUB that he didn’t know what to expect when he first took on the role of Ron Weasley; "I had no expectations at all. I was just a school kid really, who didn’t know much about anything.
"I mean the books were always huge and such a massive thing, and it’s just something that’s kind of grown over the years and I still can’t really get over this today. It’s just unreal."
Tom Felton expressed how it felt now the 10-year series was coming to a close; "It’s a strange feeling. It’s kind of the same for the fans, I think.
"Everyone’s very excited about this final chapter, and then kind of sad that it’s coming to an end, because once this is finished, it’s over. So yeah, it’s kind of sad."
Felton also paid tribute to the loyal Harry Potter fans, saying; "I feel very grateful to the fans because these are the guys who’ve been keeping us going for the last ten years so a big thanks to those guys because we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them."
Jason Isaacs, who plays evil Lucius Malfoy said of the FILMCLUB scheme to get young people watching, discussing and reviewing films in schools; "I think FILMCLUB is amazing. I’m always impressed by the films that people choose and review."
He also suggested to members; "And don’t just look at the things coming out - keep going back in time because there were great films made, particularly in the seventies."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two is released in cinemas on Friday 15th July.
And for film fans who wish to continue their mythical and slightly supernatural film journeys after bidding Harry and friends farewell can check out FILMCLUB’s shortlist of spellbinding films on filmclub.org; expect sorcery, adventure and the climax of good verses evil in the movie magic film season, which features spooky Victorian thriller The Prestige, the brilliantly creepy Roald Dahl adaptation of The Witches and Japanese animation about a 13-year-old witch, Kiki's Delivery Service.
FILMCLUB is a nationwide education charity and expert in film for young people. The initiative offers access to thousands of popular and classic films from around the world for young people and teachers to watch and discuss in their school film clubs.
