Thousand of acting hopefuls who attended open auditions for the role of Lavender Brown in the new Harry Potter movie have been left disappointed as the part went to an expeienced actress.Producers were looking for a girl aged between 15 and 18 to play the part of Brown in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.After successfully finding the character Luna Lovegood for Order of the Phoenix lasy year the held open auditions and 7000 girls turned up.When announcing the open auditions director David Yates said: 'These auditions are open to everybody and we can't wait to see who comes in the door' 'Normally I have all these casting agents sending me kids who have been to stage school and who come in tap-dancing and singing.'What we are looking for is someone natural and absolutely credible in their own right.'However Jessie Cave, aged 20, has been given the role. Despite stating that acting experience was not required Cave has starred in CBBC's Summerhill and alongside Helen Mirren in soon to be released Inkheart.The character Lavender Brown is also a pupil at Hogwarts and is the girlfriend of Potter favourite Ron Weasley.

A second set of auditions were also held for the role of Tom Riddle, who goes on to become Harry Potter's enemy Voldermort, but an announcement is yet to be made about who has been cast.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is scheduled to be released next November.
