Harrison Ford believes that the role of Han Solo in the Star Wars movie boosted his career.
The actor was out in Hollywood last night to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
Ford was joined by Peter Meyhew, Billy Dee Williams and Ewan McGregor at the event which was supporting St Jude Children's Research Hospital
Speaking on the red carpet Ford said: It's been a real boon to my career to have this introduction to succeeding generations.
"I think the great luck of my career is that I've made these family movies which are introduced to succeeding generations of kids by their families at the time it seems appropriate.
"I think the cocky rebellious nature of the character was both an opportunity and a touchstone for the audience."
Ford has enjoyed a career that has spanned over forty years that saw him go on to create a second franchise it he form of Indiana Jones.
He will be back on the big screen later this year with his new movie Morning Glory, which also stars Rachel McAdams and Diane Keaton.
