Hailee Steinfeld has described making True Grit as 'fun'.

The teenager makes her big screen debut with Joel and Ethan Coen's latest project, a remake of the John Wayne movie.

But the young actress admits that she enjoyed the shoot and was fully supported by her more experienced co-stars.

Speaking to ET Canada the actress said: "I was just so wrapped up in the moment and I was having so much fun and working with Matt [Damon] and Jeff [Bridges] and Josh [Brolin], they were just so much fun to be around and they were always encouraging me that I never had any kind of thought that I wasn't having fun, or was uncomfortable."

"I give a lot to credit to them for really helping me push through the whole process.

Steinfeld was in London last night for the Bafta awards - where she was nominated for Best Actress alongside Natalie Portman, Annette Bening, Julianne Moore and Noomi Rapace.

Her performance has been recognised in the Best Supporting Actress category at the Oscars.

True Grit is out now.
