Geoffrey Rush believes that there is still scope for several more Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Rush returned to the role of Barbossa last week as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hit the big screen.
The movie has topped the box office in both the U.S. and UK in it's opening weekend as has so far grossed in excess of $395 million worldwide.
And Rush admits that a fifth story is in development and the franchise still could produce a couple more movies.
The Oscar winning actor told PopEater: "Well nothing's official, but there is a fifth chapter being developed - as the hardcore fans will know if they hang around till after the credits roll.
"There's a little teaser, cliffhanger, which I think opens up the potential for a pretty damn fine movie."
"Between the mythology and the legends and the history and geographical places in the world, there's still a bucket load of stories to tell.
And while Rush believes that there are possibilities of more movies in this franchise he doesn't think that it will last forever.
"I don't think we're going to outrun Bond. They're up to 23 so they've really set the bar. Relatively we're young kids on the block."
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is out now.
