Gary Oldman has admitted that he would love to reprise the role of George Smiley in a sequel to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
The British actor takes on the central role of Smiley in Tomas Alfredson's big screen adaptation of John le Carre's hit novel.
There is already talk of a Best Actor Oscar nomination for Oldman and he admits that he would like to reprise the role.
Speaking to Empire the actor said: "Absolutely. I would hope that Peter Straughan will write the screenplay and Tomas Alfredson would return as the director, but I would love to revise the role.
"I would think that they may put those two together. I don't think they would make The Honourable Schoolboy on its own.
"My guess would be that it would be a composite, an amalgamation of the two, and they would call it Smiley's People."
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has been a huge hit with the critics - not surprising since Colin Firth, Tom Hardy Mark Strong and John Hurt are all on the cast list.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is out now.
