Gary Oldman believes that The Dark Knight Rises will be a better movie that it's predecessor The Dark Knight.
Oldman is set to reprise his role as Jim Gordon in the third movie in the franchise as Christopher Nolan returns to the director's chair.
The Dark Knight was released back in 2008 and went on to break $1 billion at the global box office, as well as being critically acclaimed.
But Oldman believes that the director can go one better with the latest instalment.
Speaking to Collider about the movie, which is about to begin filming, he said: "You think you can't top The Dark Knight and I think [director Christopher Nolan] may have."
Christian Bale is back as Bruce Wayne in the movie while Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman are also set to return.
Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy are new faces on the cast list as Catwoman and Bane.
But we will be seeing Oldman on the big screen much sooner as he is set to star in Catherine Hardwicke's latest movie Red Riding Hood.
The Dark Knight Rises is set for a July 2012 release.
