Garrett Hedlund has revealed that he was approached to play the role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The actor has been at the Toronto Film Festival this week promoting his new movie On The Road and he admits that his new movie is one of the reasons why he didn't take the role.
Hedlund says that he was approached for the role while he was shooting On The Road and he was so focused on his role that he didn't have time to read the novels.
Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "They did [approach me]. But I was working on this film at the time. We shot the whole film in 23 days and I was really immersed in it. I couldn't get around [to reading the 'Hunger Games' novels]."
"Everybody around me is flipping out about the books, and I didn't really have the time to sit down lately to read any book, not just 'Hunger Games.'
"But I've got a couple [projects] on my plate that I'm looking forward to reading now."
Snow White and the Huntsman actor Sam Claflin has been cast in the role and filming on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire got underway in Atlanta this week.
As for Hedlund as well as On The Road he has also completed work on Lullaby and Inside Llewyn Davis.
On The Road is released 12th October.
