A second G.I. Joe movie is in the pipeline according to Paramount Pictures.
Rise of the Cobra was released worldwide last week and has already become a box office success as it stormed to #1 in America and so far grossed almost $109 million.
Before the release of the film there were already whispers of a possible sequel in the pipeline as director Stephen Sommers hinted at where he would like to take the franchise.
Paramount's vice Chairman Rob Moore told the Los Angeles Times that a follow-up film would soon be going into production, even if Stephen Sommers doesn't return to the director's chair.
Actor Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller and Marlon Wayans will all return due to contract commitments but it wasn't made clear if Sommers was aboard the new movie.
The filmmaker did talk about where he would like to take a second movie just before Rise of the Cobra was released claiming that he wanted to look at some of the mythology behind the Joes.
However Moore did not hint at the possible storyline.
