Freida Pinto has revealed that she would love to take on a romantic comedy.

The actress is back on the big screen this week with her new movie Miral, which follows a Palestinian girl growing up in the wake of the first Arab-Israeli war.

Pinto shot to fame in Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire and she believes that movie gave her exposure but now she wants to try different genres of movies.

Speaking to Stylist the actress said: "It gave me the exposure I needed for people to give me a change. It gave me an opportunity to say I'd like to do films that aren't race-centric because I don't want to be a stereotypical Indian girl - I just want to be a girl."

"When a film's as big as Slumdog you want the next project to hold a candle to it, or be better. The next film had to have substance, but I still would have worked with a debutant director."

"Oh, it's time to do a romcom with Gerard Butler. Of course. I've just made a big-budget film, so I've told my agent a romcom's next.

"I'd also like to do an action movie - I need to kick some butt."

The actress has already completed work on Rise of the Apes, which also stars James Franco, and Immortals and she is currently filming Black Gold with Mark Strong and Antonio Banderas.

Miral is released 3rd December.
