Forest Whitaker has revealed the secret to his movie success... he will only play interesting characters.
The actor has enjoyed a career that has spanned twenty eight years and brought him roles such as Bird, which was directed by Clint Eastwood, Good Morning, Vietnam and Panic Room.
Whitaker got his hands on a Best Actor Oscar back in 2006 when he took on the role of Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland.
In an interview with Contactmusic the Oscar winning actor said: "In the beginning of my career I was so idealistic. I didn't care if I got a part. I was just trying to become better. I'd say no to something because it didn't interest me.
"I didn't want to play a drug dealer for 10 years on a soap opera. At that time, I didn't care about money. I'd rather starve.
"That's my secret. I built a career playing interesting characters because I followed my heart."
The actor is back on the big screen next month when he teams up with Jude Law for sci-fi movie Repo Men.
My Own Love Song, The Experiment and Our Family Wedding are all expected to be released this year.
