Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker is to take on another real-life character as he has been cast as Louis Armstrong in What A Wonderful World.The actor won his Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland and it's twenty years since he took on the role of Charlie Parker, a jazz musician, in Bird.The film of the popular musician, who was one of the first black performers, to break into the mainstream whill look at his hard and poverty stricken early years living in New Orleans and the beginning of his career.The project, which has been approved by the Armstrong estate, will also see Whitaker move behind the camera as he is set to direct Ron Bass' script.The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation will play an executive producer role in the film and the company behind the movie is Legende, which brough us the Oscar winning La Vie en Rose last year.Filming will get underway next summer in Louisiana.
