FilmClub Promotes French Movies
With France’s famous National holiday day - Bastille Day - fast approaching (Wednesday 14th July) FilmClub - the nationwide after-school initiative - is celebrating all things French with a dedicated Season of the Week featuring some of the best French films for young people.
French cinema has long been an influence on film makers actors, and Lord of the Rings star Ian McKellen recently declared his love for the latest award-winning French export, exclusively telling FilmClub 'the best work I have seen for years is Un Prophète it will inspire my work now, and continue to in the future.'
Encouraging a legion of new film fans to discover some of French cinema’s gems, FilmClub’s Top Ten film picks featured in the new season range from classic French language masterpieces, to those which take a unique look at historic events in European history.
Each will lead the viewer on a journey of cultural discovery, from the suburban ghettos of multi-award winning La Haine through to the Parisian chic of Jean- Luc Godard’s A Bout de Souffle and overtly decadent world of Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. With a cluster of awards between them, FilmClub guarantees that this week’s film Season, really will be a true cinematique experience.
