Berry To Join Jackson On The Mountaintop
Halle Berry will make her Broadway debut opposite her Jungle Fever co-star Samuel L. Jackson in Katori Hall's acclaimed play The Mountaintop.
The Oscar winner will play a hotel maid who delivers a meal to U.S. civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. on the evening before he's assassinated on 3 April, 1968. Jackson will play King.
The play, which is set in Room 306 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, comes to Broadway after wowing London audiences.
Sorkin To Turn Aide's Mistress Tale Into Edwards Film
West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin is set to tackle the underbelly of politics again after signing on to turn Andrew Young's bestseller The Politician - about the downfall of cheating former presidential candidate John Edwards - into a movie.
Sorkin has bought the rights to the book, written by Edwards' former aide.
He says, "This is a first-hand account of an extraordinary story filled with motivations, decisions and consequences that would have lit Shakespeare up."
In the book, Young chronicles how he helped hide Edwards' mistress, Rielle Hunter, during the Democrat's second campaign for the White House.
Edwards accepted he was the father of Hunter's lovechild at the beginning of 2010.
