Famke Janssen admits that everyone was surprised by the success that Taken enjoyed back in 2008.
This week sees the actress reprise her role as Lenore alongside Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace.
And while everyone hoped that the first movie was going to do well Janssen says that no one was sure how it was going to do.
Speaking to Collider the actress said: "All of us were. I don’t think anybody anticipated the success. It came out in Europe before it came out in the United States, and it just kept going.
"It was a really pleasant surprised for all of us. You don’t ever know with films. You just hope for the best, but sometimes it’s a bit of a crapshoot. It’s like playing Russian roulette.
"You just don’t know, but you hope for the best. I don’t think anybody has the formula. If they did, a lot of financiers would be a lot richer."
Janssen is also set to star in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters next year as well as work on more directing projects.
Taken 2 is out now.
