Emma Watson has revealed that she has no plans to quit acting.

The actress plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise, the role that shot her to stardom, and has been dogged by rumours that she intends to leave acting behind.

The rumours surfaced after the actress made a decision to go to university in America despite being one of the biggest teenage actresses currently working.

At a press conference to promote Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince she said: "In August I'm going to university in the states, so I'm very excited and looking forward to a bit of normality, but that does not mean I'm never going to work again or act again," she said.

"I think there has been a lot of confusion in the media that going to university is mutually exclusive and that I can't act and study at the same time.

"I seem to have managed it okay until this point, so that's what I hope to continue to do.

"Hopefully I'll schedule any work I want to do around the holidays. I think anything is possible really."

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is released 15th July.
