The actress is back on the big screen later this autumn with The Perks of Being A Wallflower, which is the big screen adaptation of the Stephen Chbosky novel.
The movie sees Watson team up with Logan Lerman as well as Ezra Miller and it sees her take her career in a new direction.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly the actress said: "I started as Emma with some Hermione still left in my system.
"I went through the tunnel and I came out ready to start something new."
Watson also recalled her first meeting with Stephen Chbosky and he told her that filming this movies was set to be one of the best times of her life.
"At our initial meeting, he [Stephen] said, 'Okay, not only is this going to be one of the most important parts you play, you're also going to have the summer of your life and meet some of your best friends'," she recalled.
"I thought, 'That's quite a claim. Who is this guy?' Everything he said came true."
This is only the second movie project for Watson since the end of the Harry Potter franchise as she starred in My Week with Marilyn last year.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is released 3rd October.
