Emma Stone has revealed that she initially thought that The Amazing Spider-Man would not be a movie project for her.
The actress is set to take on the role of Gwen Stacey in the re-boot of the popular franchise alongside Andrew Garfield, who will play Peter Parker.
And she admits that it was the relationship between the two characters that was the real draw for her.
Speaking to Comic-Con Annual 2012 the actress said: "I heard about Spider-Man and I didn't think it was something I would want to be a part of. I just thought that probably isn't right for me.
“Then I [auditioned with Andrew Garfield] and realised that this was a really interesting, fantastic relationship between two people and that I was being really closed-minded.”
The Amazing Spider-Man is the first role for Stone since the critical and box office hit The Help, which went on to enjoy major award success.
She has also completed work on The Gangster Squad, which reunites her with Ryan Gosling, Movie 43 and The Croods.
The Amazing Spider-Man is released 4th July.
