Emily Blunt reveals that she was uncertain about her new movie Gnomeo and Juliet but was won over by it’s ‘charming’ script.
The actress joins an impressive voice cast of James McAvoy, Ozzy Osbourne, Maggie Smith, Jason Statham and Michel Caine in the animation retelling of Romeo and Juliet.
However Blunt reveals that she was, at first, concerned about the film - as well as having a fear of gnomes.
Speaking to the BBC the actress said: "I used to be scared of gnomes. Little bearded men in your garden? I didn't understand the appeal.
“This film has been a healing process, we’re making them into being romantic, charming little objects.
"I was really baffled at first.
"I got a call from my agency, 'You've just been offered this animated film, it's called Gnomeo & Juliet'. And I just thought, 'Oh no!'
“Because I knew what they were doing instantly, and then when I read the script it was the most charming and witty thing. It was a very easy yes once I'd met everyone involved."
Blunt was last seen on the big screen in Gulliver’s Travels with Jack Black and she teams up with Matt Damon for The Adjustment Bureau later this year.
Gnomeo and Juliet is released 11th February.
