Edgar Wright

Edgar Wright has heaped praise on his Scott Pilgrim vs The World leading man Michael Cera.

The filmmaker is back in the director's chair next week as he brings Bryan Lee O'Malley's popular comic book series to the big screen, and Cera plays the title role.

In an interview with Reuters the filmmaker said: "On one hand, he brings this unique, Everyman feel to it, and on the flip side he rocks out and he kicks ass and sometimes all three in the same scene," he said.

"I think sometimes people would take it for granted what an extraordinary performer Michael is. He's incredibly expressive and he even looks like the character."

Scott Pilgrim vs The World is the first movie for Wright, as a director, since Hot Fuzz back in 2007 as the filmmaker has been juggling directing and writing commitments.

Wright has already penned the script for Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, a movie that is already in post production.

He is currently working on a script for Ant Man, the latest Marvel Comic character that will be appearing on the big screen, and that is a project that he is set to direct.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World is released 25th August.
