Dwayne Johnson has revealed that he doesn't mind if movie don't work out every time.

He is back on the silver screen this week with his new family comedy Tooth Fairy, which sees him work with Julie Andrews.

And the actor admits that he wants to try as many different movie genres as possible and doesn't want to get stuck playing one type of role.

Talking to Movies.ie he said: "I don't want to be just that guy, who only does those kinds of movies. I want to strike out and try everything.

"And it's okay if it doesn't work every time - I'd be incredibly lucky if they did, especially given the range I've been trying - but I'm always so glad that I got the chance to push myself in a different direction, in a different genre.

"I don't expect the person who loved 'The Scorpion King' to run and see 'Tooth Fairy', and I don't expect the little girl who loved 'The Game Plan' to go and buy all my WWF videos.

"The important thing is, I love them all equally."

And he has a very busy 2010 with The Other Guys, which sees him work with Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Samuel L. Jackson, and Faster both out later this year.

He is also set to work on Protection and Fast Five whilst being linked to projects such as Jonny Quest and Racing Dreams.

Tooth Fairy is released 28th May.
