Duncan Jones believes that he is now at a point in his career where he can make the movies that he wants to make.
Jones is back in the director's chair this week with his new movie Source Code, which sees him team up with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Source Code is the first movie for Jones since he won critical acclaim for his debut Moon. And Jones used Moon to show that he could direct a movie but he now has bigger plans.
Speaking to Herald Scotland the filmmaker said: "I’ve had this really long-term plan about what I want to do, and it’s not just to make a feature film.
"It has to be a specific type of feature film, and Moon was stage one. It was my calling card to prove that I could make a film.
"Stage 2 was Source Code, to prove that I could work at a bigger budget within the Hollywood system with big-name actors.
"Now, I feel as though I’m at the point where I can really make the films I want to make: to be able to work on a bigger budget on a sci-fi project that I’ve written. It’s been a very long-term plan."
Source Code is released 1st April.
