A sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is still in the pipeline according to Sony.
David Fincher brought his American adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novel over Christmas - a movie that was met well by the critics.
Despite the positivity from the critics over the last few weeks the movie has not performed as well at the box office as many had expected it to do.
But Sony have revealed that this has not halted plans for the second book The Girl With Played With Fire to be adapted for the big screen.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly a representative for Sony said: "[Dragon Tattoo] continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect to development of the next book."
The movie saw Rooney Mara take over the role of Lisbeth Salander, for which has picked up a Golden Globe nomination, while Daniel Craig plays Mikael Blomkvist.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is out now.
