Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 has stormed to the top of the U.S. box office as it grossed in excess of $125 million in it's opening weekend.

Deathly Hallows is the final instalment in the Harry Potter saga, but has been split into two movies by director David Yates in a bit to do the beefy novel justice.

As Harry races against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, he uncovers the existence of three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows.

Last week's number one Megamind fell a single place to number two and was a long way behind Harry Potter as the animation took a further $16.1 million.

Unstoppable and Due Date were also down one place to finish the week at three and four. The Next Three Day was the second new entry inside the top ten this week at number five.

The Next Three Days is the latest movie from Russell Crowe and sees him team up with Crash filmmaker Paul Haggis.

Morning Glory, which stars Rachel McAdams. Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton, was down just a single place from five to six.

Skyline was one of the biggest fallers this week as it fell three places from four to seven while Red was a once place faller which was down at eight.

For Coloured Girls was the other biggest faller of the week as it was down three places from six to number nine.

Fair Game was the final new entry inside the top ten at ten and sees Sean Penn team up with Naomi Watts.
