David Tennant has described The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists as one of the most 'unusual projects he has ever worked on because of the time it has taken to put it all together.
The actor will lend his voice to Charles Darwin and he reveals that he has revisited the project a handful of time in the two years that has been involved with the movie.
Speaking to Flicks and Bits the actor said: "It's very unusual because you're aware that the process is going on for years, this film has a long gestation period.
"We actors came and visited it every now and then. Once every three months we'd come in and have a recording session.
"That spread over, I don't even know how long I was working on it, certainly over a year, maybe even two years.
"It was a long process that the actors would just revisit every now and again."
Tennant returned to the big screen at the weekend with his new movie The Decoy Bride, he has also been working on TV projects.
The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists sees the actor join an all star voice cast that includes Hugh Grant, Salma Hayek and Brendan Gleeson.
