Darren Aronofsy has joined the race to direct the new Superman movie.
The Dark Knight filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been brought on to oversee the project, he will also produce, and announced last week that he was looking for a director to helm the re-boot.
Duncan Jones, Jonathan Liebesman, Matt Reeves, Tony Scott and Zack Snyder were all in the running for the job and now it seems that The Wrestler filmmaker is joining them.
Ben Affleck has also been linked to the movie while it was rumoured that Guillermo Del Toro had been also been approached, it seems that both of them are now out of the running.
While no cast has yet been announced, although Brandon Routh had expressed interest in reprising the role of Clark Kent, David Goyer has penned the script.
Aronofsky is currently causing waves with his new movie Black Swan, which is already attracting some major Oscar attention.
An announcement on who will helm the project is expected in the next few weeks.
