Danny Dyer revealed that he went all 'method' for his new movie City Rats when he took on the role of an alcoholic.
Dyer was a guest on Paul O'Grady's sofa last night and he claimed that he would sink several cans of larger before starting work in a bid to prepare for his role.
Speaking on the television show he said: "My character is very depressed and I'm an alcoholic in it which gave me the opportunity to go a bit method."
"I would learn the lines the night before and embed it in my skull. That way I could get up in the morning, bang down a couple of Special Brew [and] have a bacon roll.
"And it worked because it gave me a bit of freedom. You know you try things because you're a little bit tipsy, it makes you a bit braver."
City Rats sees the British actor return to the big screen for the first time since his cameo appearance in Adulthood last year.
City Rats is released today.
