Daniel Day Lewis has admitted that he felt his singing and dancing abilities weren't goo enough to star in new musical Nine.
The Oscar winning actor takes on the role of Guido Contini in the Rob Marshall directed movie.
World famous film director Guido Contini reaches a creative and personal crisis of epic proportion while balancing the numerous women in his life including his wife, his mistress, his film star muse, his confidant and costume designer, an American fashion journalist, the whore from his youth and his mother.
In an interview with STV the actor said: "I did say to Rob in the early stages, 'Is there any way of getting out of this? I have a list of actors who could do it tomorrow!'
"He tried to convince me I could sing and I said, 'You've no idea if I can sing or not!'
"I sang feebly a couple of times, and on the grounds of that Rob managed to convince me it was worth pursuing."
Nine is Daniel Day Lewis' first big screen role since his OScar winning turn as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood in 2007.
The movie also stars Oscar winners Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench and Sophia Loren.
Nine is released 18th December.
