The Runaways

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart had admitted that they were totally dedicated to portraying their characters in The Runaways correctly.

The pair take on the roles of Cherie Currie and Joan Jett in the new biopic that follows the rise of the all girl rock band in the seventies.

And the pair, who have worked together on the Twilight Saga movies, revealed that they researched Currie and Jett so their performances could be as real as possible.

Speaking to MTV Fanning said: "We knew we were going to have a scene where we were going to have to sign something, so you need to ask [the real-life people you're portraying]."

Stewart added: "Joan [has a distinctive writing style]; I had a couple other little writing bits [I noticed] because I've seen her write. It's almost like she's hiding [the pen]."

"[Joan] does write a little weird. And that's why it was so great having her around, not just [for little stuff like that], but for the emotional connection to capture an essence, and they are such vivid people. It was great to have her there."

Directed by Floria Sigismondi the movie is based on Cherie Currie's book 'Neon Angel' and follows the band's formation and their meteoric rise in the middle of the seventies.
