Contagion has ended The Help's reign at the top of the US box office.
Contagion is the latest project from Oscar winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh and brings together an impressive cast that includes Matt Damon, Kate Winslet and Gwyneth Paltrow.
The movie is centred on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak.
Contagion took $23.1 million at the box office over the weekend to storm to the number one spot. The Help fell just a single place to number two after three weeks in the top spot.
Warrior, which sees a return to the big screen for Tom Hardy, was the only other new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at number three.
The Debt fell two places from two to four while Columbiana, the latest film from Zoe Saldana, was up one at five.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes fell out of the top five this week as it dropped just a single place to number six while Shark Night 3D was also down - dropping three places to seven.
This week's biggest faller was outer space horror movie Apollo 18 as it dropped five places from three to this week's number eight.
Our Idiot Brother was down two while Spy Kids: All the Time in the World rounded off the top ten - falling one place from nine
