Colin Firth believes that his Oscar nomination may not boost his career.
The British actor landed his maiden nomination for his performance in the Tom Ford directed movie A Single Man.
In an interview with the BBC the actor said: I don't think it's an exact science and I don't think you if you look at other people's trajectory it necessarily works like that at all.
"It's certainly far too early for me to make an assessment of my own case. It's certainly helped A Single Man."
"I'm not saying that out of worthiness, so far that's the only thing I can be sure of - a film this small would have no life at all if it weren't for this stuff."
The actor was flying the flag for Britain on Sunday night but missed out on the Best Actor prize to Jeff Bridges, he has however picked up a Bafta for his role.
He will be back on the big screen alongside Patricia Clarkson and Orlando Bloom in Main Street before taking on the role of King George VI in The King's Speech.
