Colin Farrell says that he didn't feel like he was stepping into Arnold Schwarzenegger's shoes because Total Recall is a different movie.
Farrell is back on the big screen next week as Total Recall is remade twelve years after it was released for the first time.
The Irish actor takes on the lead character in the movie and admits that the story and the characters are different to the original.
Speaking to The Press Association the actor said: "It felt like a stretch. But I really didn't feel like I was stepping into his shoes.
"When I heard they were remaking it I was a little bit skeptical and I knew that there might be a certain level of criticism aimed towards it.
"But the film itself, it felt like a very unique script. It felt tonally like it was so different from the original film."
"I've done two remakes. I've done a thing called Fright Night and then this and I was a fan of both originals. And both felt like they were so different and the characters were so different that I didn't feel like I was repeating what was already said."
Len Wiseman is in the director's chair for the movie while Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel join Farrell on the cast list.
Total Recall is released 29th August.
