Action remake Clash Of The Titans has conquered the competition at the U.S. box office, debuting at number one with $61.4 million (£38.4 million) in earnings at the weekend (02-04Apr10).
The blockbuster, starring Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes, has made a total of $64.1 million (£40.1 million) in the U.S. including preview screenings on Thursday night (01Apr10).
Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? was runner-up with $30.2 million (£18.9 million) in ticket sales - marking a triumph for singer/actress Janet Jackson, who went to work on the comedy just a day after her brother, the late Michael Jackson, was laid to rest in June (09).
Meanwhile, animated adventure How to Train Your Dragon slipped from the top spot to three with $29.2 million (£18.3 million), and now boasts a 10-day total of $92.3 million (£57.7 million).
Miley Cyrus' new drama The Last Song debuted at number four with $16.2 million (£10.1 million), while Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland slipped from two to five with nearly $8.3 million (£5.2 million) in earnings. Burton's whimsical collaboration with Johnny Depp now boasts a five-week total of nearly $309.8 million (£193 million).
