Cillian Murphy is hoping that a third Batman movie from Christopher Nolan will go into production.
The actor took on the role of The Scarecrow in Nolan's reboot of the franchise Batman Begins back in 2005.
He briefly reprised this role in The Dark Knight which dominated the box office last summer, breaking through the $1 billion barrier.
Talking to MTV News the actor said: I hope they make a third one. I think The Dark Knight was one of the greatest films.
"[The Dark Knight is] one of the greatest blockbuster mainstream movies. If anyone can match that or top that, it's Chris. Fingers crossed."
Rumours had circulated that Nolan would not return to the franchise after the death of Heath Ledger but scriptwriter David Goyer.
In June he said that he had already begun talking about storylines with the directors telling ING: "Well, I believe he said if we can find the story that he's happy with, that he would return.
Both Johnny Depp and Eddie Murphy have been linked to the role of The Riddler while Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been rumoured to be in line to take on The Penguin.
