Christina Hendricks reveals that she loved her character in Ginger and Rosa and has been a fan of director Sally Potter for some time.
Hendricks returned to the big screen this weekend with the drama and she was excited to take on the challenge of the role as well as work with Potter for the first time.
Speaking to the Radio Times the actress said: "I loved the character in the script right away. And I've been a fan of Sally's for a long time."
She added: "I thought it was going to be a challenge for me, and an incredibly different character than I've been playing on Mad Men."
"I think each of Sally's films has been quite different from the last and that is what's exciting about her as a filmmaker.
"She is experimenting with new things each time, and whatever style of story she wants to tell. And I would have to say this one is, for lack of a better word, more mainstream than her other films."
Hendricks has mixed her movie work with TV this year as she returned to the role of Joan in Mad Men.
And the actress has also been linked to How To Catch A Monster, which is the directorial debut of Ryan Gosling, and Seconds of Pleasure.
Ginger & Rosa is out now.
