Christina Applegate admits that she wants to produce a 'legacy of movies' that her kids can enjoy.
The Samantha Who is back on the big screen this week to voice the character of Catherine in new movie Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.
Applegate is pregnant with her first child and she reveals that being on the verge of being a mother was one of the reasons why she took on the movie.
Speaking to PA she said: "I felt like I wanted to have a legacy of movies that my kids could see because I felt like there's really nothing that I've done that's appropriate for anyone under the age of 18 up to this point, except for a few things.
"It's nice to have these movies to show my kids and let them see their mum."
The actress also reveals that she was encouraged to take on the role by her mother: My mum had been in my house, she sneaks in and I have no idea what she does there, but she saw the script on the table.
"I hadn't read it yet and she wrote on it in big letters, 'You better do this!' and that was because we're animal people."
The actress is also set to star in Going The Distance alongside Drew Barrymore and Justin Long and she has completed work on Hall Pass.
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore is released 4th August.
