Christian Bale has revealed that McG took on new movie Terminator Salvation to reinvent himself as a filmmaker.
While Bale originally didn't want to take on the role of John Connor it was director McG that convinced him to once a gain take on a big blockbuster role.
In an interview with ShortList Bale said: He had a strong desire to make a very different movie from anything that had been done before - I think to prove that to himself and others, he has a lot of fight in him.
"I mean, a guy who keeps on calling himself McG must have a lot of fight in him, you know? Not only did he want to reinvent the mythology, but he also wanted to reinvent himself."
While the movie, which is the fourth Terminator film to hit the big screen, is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer it hasn't faired well with the critics in America.
Despite the lukewarm response it did well at the American box office in it's opening week coming in second behind Night at the museum; Battle of the Smithsonian.
