Christian Bale believes that the third Batman movie will be better than The Dark Knight.
The Dark Knight was released last summer and was a box office smash grossing over $1b at the global box office as well as landing Heath Ledger a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance as the Joker.
In an interview with Total Film he said: "I would like it if people say, 'You'll never make a good third movie'. I say, 'OK, let's make a third movie in that case, let's prove them wrong. But that's just me."
However the actor also revealed that he contractually obliged to appear in a third movie while director Christopher Nolan, who has breathed life into the franchise, is not.
"The fact is, I have to! I've signed up! Chris doesn't. So I'm in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn't want to! Will we do a third movie? It's got to be the right story.
"You can't make something like The Dark Knight and then come out with something disappointing."
The Dark Knight became the biggest grossing superhero movie and became just the fourth movie to break the $1b barrier joining Titanic, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
