Christian Bale has revealed that he struggled to breathe in his Batman costume.
The actor reprises the role of Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Rises this summer and he admits that the cowl was a major issue for him when he was filming the movie.
Speaking to Empire Bale said: "When it gets cold the cowl is extremely tight, and it gets better the warmer I get it; it becomes more flexible.
"But after a couple of takes I was trying to breathe properly in my nose. I was starting to see stars and I said 'I have to take this off'.
"And thank God on this one I can - on Batman Begins I couldn't - so I had to get inside because I couldn't let anybody see me without the cowl."
The Dark Knight rises marks the end of Bale's tenure as Batman as Christopher Nolan's franchise comes to a close.
This time around Bale is joined on the cast list by Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon Levitt while Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman will be reprising roles.
The Dark Knight Rises is released 20th July.
