Chris Hemsworth has described the role of Thor as a 'dream'
When I was a kid I dreamt this kind of stuff and then as an adult, an actor, to work among these people is just an absolute dream.
The Australian actor takes on the role of Thor in the latest Marvel Comic hero to make it to the big screen.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh the movie also stars Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman and the actor admits that he found it exciting to be working alongside them.
Speaking to AAP the actor said: "When I was a kid I dreamt this kind of stuff and then as an adult, an actor, to work among these people is just an absolute dream.
"Walking into it, I thought it was going to be one of the most intimidating experiences, and I couldn't have felt more supported.
"Anthony Hopkins was just wonderful as was Ken, and Natalie, and to be around them and learning from them was hugely beneficial and exciting."
Thor is the first blockbuster lead role for the actor and he looks set to reprise the role in The Avengers.
He has also completed work on The Cabin In The Woods and Red Dawn.
Thor is released 29th April.
