Chris Evans has admitted that it was director Joss Whedon who designed the costume for Captain American in The Avengers.
Evans, who first appeared as Captain America this summer, is reprising the character in The Avengers as some of Marvel's biggest heroes are brought together.
Whedon is helming the project which also stars Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner.
In an interview with Playlist the actor said: "The first [costume] was a 1940s look, very utilitarian, something that would serve a purpose on the battlefield.
"But in The Avengers, Joss just had a certain vision in his mind about what he wanted Cap to look like."
"That's what he wanted to see. It's so nice working on these movies and the director's a fan. He's the dude at Comic-Con that we're terrified of p*ssing off.
"If Joss is happy, I'm happy."
But Evans swaps comic book for comedy this week as he teams up with Anna Faris for What's Your Number?
The Avengers is released 4th May.
