Chris Evans believes that director Joss Whedon has found the right balance between action and characters in new movie The Avengers.
Evans is set to reprise the role of Captain America alongside Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo - who are set to play Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and Hulk.
And while fans expect plenty of action as the heroes come together for the first time Evans says that the story need substance and character development - which is exactly what we will get.
Speaking to The Huffington Post the actor said: "There's obviously action, you've got all these superheroes, there's gonna be a constant battle; I think every ten pages, there's going to be some sort of action.
"But you can have all the action in the world - if you don't have some substance, you got nothing.
"It's not easy trying to bring all those characters together and find a story, but the best thing about [Joss] is that Joss is a fan, Joss is a comic book guy.
"It feels so nice working with a guy that is, well, the people I am trying to please is Joss. Joss is one of those dudes."
Evans brought Captain America to the big screen for the first time this summer in what was a great action movie.
But he leaves the action genre behind later this month as he returns to comedy for What's Your Number? Which sees him star alongside Anna Faris.
The Avengers is released 4th May 2012.
