Cher helped co-star Christina Aguilera master her first acting role on the set of Burlesque by recalling the tricks Meryl Streep used to guide her when she was a movie novice.
The Dirrty singer makes her acting debut in the upcoming musical, and Aguilera recently admitted she was terrified of starring alongside her idol Cher.
But the showbiz veteran knew just what to do to put the younger singer at ease and mentored her in the same way Streep did when Cher was a nervous newcomer on the set of 1983 drama Silkwood.
She tells movie website Collider.com, "She reminded me of the relationship that I had with Meryl Streep, when Meryl took me under her wing.
"The truth was that I didn’t have any idea where to stand, not that I know where to stand now. I just learned what downstage and upstage is.
"But, Christina worked so hard. She overcame a lot. She came on the set with us, and that’s a little bit nerve-wracking when you’ve done nothing in film. I tried to put her at ease. As time went by, she felt a lot more comfortable."
Aguilera has revealed Cher greeted her with a warm hug each day and the Believe singer admits she even messed up a scene or two so her co-star could have another opportunity to perform better.
