Cher has praised the acting ability of Burlesque co-star Christina Aguilera.

The film is the first acting role for Aguilera but Cher believes that she does have talent, but admitted that she enjoyed working with everyone on the set.

Speaking to MTV News she said: "The scenes that she and I had together, I really enjoyed, and I really believe that she's got definite chops.

"We worked well together. I enjoyed all of it, and she was toe-to-toe with me the whole time. But everybody's good. Stanley Tucci's in it and Peter Gallagher, Kristen Bell and Julianne Hough, so everyone's really good in it."

And the singer/actress also revealed that she enjoyed her scenes with Aguilera because she liked the relationship between the two characters.

"I own this club, and we're not doing well - even though it's a fabulous place - because of the economy, and Christina comes out of nowhere.

"[She's] this little girl that just bothers me. All she does is keep needling me and then I make a decision to kind of step aside and make her into this star."

We haven't seen Cher on the big screen since Stuck On You back in 2003 but she has lent her voice to Zookeeper and has completed work on The Drop Out.

Burlesque is released 17th December.
