Catherine Hardwicke has revealed that she doesn't feel under any pressure to match the success that she enjoyed with movie Twilight.
The filmmaker helmed the first adaptation of the popular Stephenie Meyer books, which was released in cinemas late last year.
The film took the US by storm grossing $70 million in it's opening weekend and making stars of it's young cast, in particular Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
Speaking to Reuters she said: "I don't think that's possible [to top it], and I don't think that's a healthy way to think. Twilight was a phenomenon - the stars just aligned on that film," she said.
"Thank God Ridley Scott didn't stop after Blade Runner. He made Thelma and Louise and Gladiator and a million other interesting movies. I still want to make other good films that won't lose money."
Twilight became the biggest opening weekend for a movie directed by a woman but Hardwicke announced that she would not be returning for the sequel as she was troubled about how quickly the studio wanted the movie ready for release.
Chris Weitz has taken over directing duties on New Moon, which will be released in November.
