Cars 2 stormed to the top of the U.S. box office and ended the one week reign of superhero movie Green Lantern.
Cars 2 is the latest movie release from animation giants Pixar and comes five years after the original.
Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race.
But the road to the championship becomes rocky as Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage.
The movie took $68 million in it's opening weekend to power to the top spot at the box office.
Bad Teacher was the second and only other new entry inside the top ten this week as the Cameron Diaz movie opened at number two.
While the film took a very healthy $31 million this weekend the movie never threatened to steal away the top spot from the Pixar film.
Green Lantern, Super 8 and Mr Popper's Penguins all fell two places as they completed the top five at three, four and five.
X-Men:First Class fell out of the top five for the first time since it's release while Pirates of the Caribbean inched ever closer to the $1 billion mark.
The film was down one place at nine this week and has so far grossed in excess of $985 million worldwide.
